Description
Are you passionate about influencing and developing global information security, privacy, and cloud standards that help shape customer expectations, industry practices, and regulatory requirements? Have you served in a leadership position or as a subject matter expert in national or international standards development organizations (SDO) representing the interests and positions of your organization or country? Do you have substantive information security experience working in technology, government, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated sectors such as energy, health, financial services, or telecommunications? If so, you may be the independent, passionate, and seasoned individual contributor we’re looking for to join our international team of Standards Leaders influencing key industry standards on behalf of AWS customers.This role is critical to ensure a strategic and proactive approach in monitoring, influencing, and developing key information security and privacy international standards that represent the needs and interests of AWS and its customers. This leader acts as a deep subject matter expert with an extensive working knowledge of international information security and privacy standards, as well as the global legal, regulatory and compliance requirements that shape, or are shaped by them. You will help develop the AWS positions that inform those policies, regulations, expectations, and standards that impact AWS and AWS customers’ ability to innovate.
Key job responsibilities
This role is crucial in helping AWS develop concise and actionable thought leadership positions on new, emerging, and existing industry information security standards across AWS product, business, and assurance teams. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to effectively work with and across internal teams to keep stakeholders informed of key standards developments and changes in requirements. Your efforts will also be integral in developing AWS positions to support and represent business and customer interests in the relevant SDO fora, thereby helping to facilitate customer adoption and usage of AWS services.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, or related field or 4+ years of relevant work experience- 5+ year of experience in Information Security and Privacy standards, laws, and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 27018, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in the information security and/or privacy domain, such as security management or analysis or experience in specific areas of the security industry (e.g., IT Security Audit, Security & Regulatory Compliance, Security Industry Standards, etc.
- 5+ years of experience working with regulatory focused standards in information security (e.g., ISO/IEC, CEN/CENELEC) or other industry verticals such as medical, transportation, energy, or gaming.
- Experience working in or with national or international standards development organizations (SDO) (e.g., INCITS, ISO, ANSI, etc.)
Extended Qualifications
- Professional Information Security certification(s) (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CIPP, CIPM, etc.)- Master's degree or advanced technical degree in computer science or related discipline.
- Experience in leading and scaling compliance, assurance, and/or standards programs.
- Experience driving the development and adoption of industry frameworks, producing reports for senior leadership on standards, regulatory, technology and related policy issues.
- Experience engaging with auditors, regulators, policymakers, and executive stakeholders on standards related matters.
- Depth understanding and/or experience with relevant information security and privacy laws, regulations, and frameworks.
- Technical fearlessness: comfortable in discussing complex security concepts, ability to clarify ambiguous requirements, consistently evaluating tradeoffs with technical and business teams.
- Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization, geographies, and cultures while also able to work independently.
- Ability to investigate and analyze technical and regulatory issues applicable to AWS services.
- Experience working on governance, risk and compliance programs, and/or security risk assessment or cybersecurity consulting.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
