Description

AWS Sales is seeking a Specialist Sales Operations Leader to support Worldwide Specialized Sales, Business Development, and Solution Architecture teams. This includes partnering with Sales Operations Managers to implement and manage business processes, systems, tools, analysis, and reporting that optimize business functions to meet organizational goals and initiatives. One of your primary stakeholders will be our Specialized Sales teams. You will provide valuable business insights for these sales specialists and managers into their accounts, territories, revenue, and compensation, which will optimize seller productivity and enable them to better serve our external customers. The Specialist Sales Operations Leader plays a critical role in establishing operational excellence and making important business decisions for the organization.

The Specialist Sales Operations Leader is responsible for managing a team that creates and manages mechanisms to optimize core sales operations functions, such as goals and KPI reporting, variable compensation, revenue flow, and executive escalations and approvals. You will be a subject matter expert on revenue, pipeline, compensation, and other key metrics used to run the business. You will look for commonalities across our stakeholders’ business needs, build scalable mechanisms, and leverage automation to grow our capacity in line with the growth of the business. You will ensure that our systems and processes enable the introduction of new products. You will be an advocate for our sales specialists and managers with our cross-functional stakeholders and peer operations organizations. Additionally, you will support Sales Operations Managers to drive improvements to reporting tools, methods, and processes utilized by the team to increase the availability and granularity of actionable data.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of managing through influence and delivering real-world impact, building and developing high performing teams, defining and executing the operational roadmap, engaging with senior leaders to align on priorities and achieve customer outcomes, and leading teams to deliver insights, improvements, and results. The ideal candidate will excel at earning trust of senior leaders and using data to drive and influence strategic decisions.

Key job responsibilities

- Serve as single threaded owner to define and lead the end-to-end planning in support of the Rhythm of the Business (e.g., OP1/OP2, MBR, goal setting); Inform goals, priorities, metrics, processes, and mechanisms to ensure the highest standards are achieved.

- Implement best practices for executing on sales territory construction and sales compensation setup.

- Define and establish baseline metrics and KPIs to support the development of new practices and goals.

- Establish dashboards, reports, and executive review documents that will drive business outcomes and strive for operational excellence.

- Develop and implement operational strategies, mechanisms, and procedures to optimize business performance and drive productivity/efficiency.

- Cross collaborate with technical and non-technical departments to drive innovation in processes and tools.

- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and other senior leaders, enabling the organization to effectively engage key areas of the business.

- Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, HR, compensation) to identify areas of focus and execute strategic initiatives.

- Lead and develop a team of Strategy & Operations resources, including building onboarding plans and setting goals for team members.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.



Qualifications

- Experience defining, refining and implementing sales processes, procedures and policies or equivalent

- Experiencing coaching and developing a team

- 10+ years of experience in the areas of sales planning/strategy, and/or sales operations, Sales Compensation, Finance, in mid-to-large scale global sales organizations

- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders and cross functional teams to build efficient, scalable mechanisms and processes

- SFDC, Tableau, Excel, Smartsheet experience



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in a hi-tech industry sales environment

- Experience with building and leading operational cadences

- Expertise in business planning, including sales coverage modeling, and target setting

- Experience working with executive leader(s) and managing stakeholders in a matrixed organization

- Experience managing sales compensation plans

- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communications skills.

- Experience leading business intelligence teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $237,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
