Description
We are looking for the technical leader, who will help us apply Generative AI technologies to transform how Amazon builders develop their new applications and maintain their software. We are researching and developing new technologies for writing high quality software and transforming code at Amazon scale. This is an opportunity to play a technical leadership role in the next generation tools for Amazon builders.
Key job responsibilities
Principal Engineers provide technical leadership at Amazon.com. They help establish technical standards and drive Amazon’s overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and engineering methodologies. They work on our hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. They think globally when building systems, ensuring Amazon.com builds high performing, scalable systems that fit well together.
A day in the life
We work as part of a larger team. In this role, you will collaborate with other Principal, Senior Principal and Distinguished Engineers from across Amazon. You are a strong technical leader who effectively partners with other technical leaders, understands the big picture, drives prioritization, builds consensus and rallies the team behind it.
About the team
The Amazon Builder Experience team provides the tools that Amazon builders use for developing and releasing applications. Our tools our used by Amazon builders to develop, build and release most of their applications. We run services critical for developing new ideas, building new regions, configuring infrastructure, operating other critical services and much more.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- Proven track record of leading the architecture, design and development of large-scale production systems.
- Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area: large scale systems engineering, building complex distributed systems, identity, or security systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from concept to launch. - Demonstrated experience playing a visionary leadership role within a large organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information concisely to executives and non-technical leaders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $311,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
