Drug discovery is being transformed through computation; our mission is to help scientists accelerate the development and evaluation of complex in silico discovery experiments using state-of-the-art biological foundation models (BioFMs), generative AI (GenAI), and high-performance computing (HPC). We do this by orchestrating these models and analyses at scale and letting scientists focus on science. You will work with a diverse team brought together and motivated by work that improves people’s lives, while being challenged on a daily basis. In this field, it’s very much Day One; come help us help customers design new patient therapies faster.

We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers’ businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon’s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers and be responsible for delivering some of our most strategic technical projects, deliver large scalable systems, design new software systems at the cutting edge of Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS) and GenAI with a significant bottom-line impact on our business and competitive position. You will be working closely with product managers and UX designers to define and shape the product, and deliver incrementally in a fast-paced work environment. As a software development manager in AWS, you will be part of the larger technical leadership community that forms the backbone of the company, play a critical role in broad business planning, working closely with senior executives, influence our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire a talented team of engineers and ultimately enable us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly.

This position within the AWS Health AI team presents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, strong business acumen and judgment, an ability to define visionary, ground breaking products, ability to hire and lead a team, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.
