Description
The Alexa Customer Journeys team is looking for a strong Software Development Manager to lead the Routines product development. Routines is used by more than 40% of Alexa Customers every-day and is a critical driver of adoption and retention for Alexa. We are re-inventing Routines with the latest LLMs to bring in GenAI powered capabilities into Routines. Come join us in our journey!The SDM on Alexa Customer Journeys - Routines will own a two-pizza team responsible for development and operation of customer facing interfaces such as the Routines hub in Alexa App, Routines UX in Multi-modal devices and other upcoming UX surfaces. Their mission is to make creation and management of Routines a breeze for customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Hire, motivate, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, providing opportunities to grow their skillsets and career
- Partner with stakeholders such as Product Managers, TPMs and other SDMs to deliver on business goals
- Hold a high-bar for operational excellence and be an active contributor to continuoulsy improve the robustness and quality of the Routines platform
- Work alongside the team supporting oncall and development effort as needed and lead by example.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
