AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. The AWS core networking team is looking for a passionate, result-oriented and inventive software. Amazon Web Services (AWS) runs one of the largest networks in the world. We are looking for a leader to drive further the development of software that automates the deployment and configuration of optical and IP platforms used to interconnect our data centers. You will leverage your deep experience in software technology and development to work with networking teams and develop software to automate the end to end process of deploying capacity for our customers.

Responsibilities include direct management of engineers, design and delivery of software solutions, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software and systems within the team, partnering with peer teams to align roadmaps and management of resources across teams. They also include working backwards from customer needs, build and track business metrics by which the team works to improve customer impact.

Successful candidates will be leaders who can prioritize effectively, communicate clearly and have a consistent track record of delivery.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
