Description

Join AWS as a Software Engineering Manager leading a high-performing team responsible for our design system, telemetry, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilities. You'll manage a team of front-end engineers, quality assurance engineers, and design technologists who build and maintain the platforms that power AWS Marketing's digital presence for millions of customers worldwide.

This team consistently delivers. We ship fast, maintain high quality, and take ownership of systems end-to-end. You'll inherit a group of motivated engineers who hold themselves to high standards and push each other to improve. Your job is to keep that momentum, remove obstacles, and create the conditions for continued excellence.

You'll own the technical direction and delivery of systems that directly impact how customers experience AWS. Your team builds the component libraries, telemetry infrastructure, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilities that enable AWS Marketing to move fast while maintaining quality and consistency. You'll partner with product, design, and engineering teams across the organization to deliver cohesive customer experiences.

We're seeking a leader who elevates high-performing teams. You'll hire and develop engineers, set technical standards, and protect the team culture that drives results. You'll balance operational excellence with innovation, ensuring reliability while shipping new capabilities.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead and grow a high-performing team of front-end engineers, QA engineers, and design technologists

- Own technical strategy and delivery for design system, telemetry, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilities

- Maintain team velocity and quality while scaling the organization

- Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent

- Set technical standards and drive engineering best practices across the team

- Partner with product and design to define roadmaps and prioritize work

- Coordinate with partner teams across AWS Marketing to align on shared goals

- Drive operational excellence including on-call, incident response, and reliability improvements

- Remove blockers and protect the team's ability to deliver

- Manage delivery across multiple workstreams with competing priorities

- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to leadership

A day in the life

Your primary focus is enabling your team to deliver high-quality work at speed. Most days start with your engineering team, whether that's a standup, a 1:1 with a team member, or reviewing a technical approach. From there, you're often in cross-team conversations, aligning with product and design on priorities or working through technical trade-offs. You'll spend time on people management too, from career development conversations to hiring. Some days you'll go beyond the usual and find yourself presenting to senior leadership, driving adoption of a new capability with a partner team, or diving deep into a technical problem alongside your engineers. The work varies, but you're always focused on removing obstacles, developing your people, and making sure the team ships great work.

About the team

We build and maintain the design systems and platforms that power AWS Marketing's digital presence, serving millions of customers worldwide. We also support key events and experiences across the organization. The team is composed of front-end engineers, QA engineers, and design technologists, and we work closely with product and design partners in the same organization.
