Description

Want to build the software that fundamentally changes how Amazon develops products and revolutionizes the software industry? Do you want to build innovative Gen AI solutions to automate business and technical processes?

We are building the unified Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution for WW Amazon Private Brands, Amazon Fresh Private Brands, and Whole Foods Market by leveraging a combination of in-house 1P software, 3P PLM tools, and Gen AI solutions to eliminate human touch points in the product development journey! The goal of this product is to reduce the time to develop products through automation, leverage ML and science to improve the quality of products, and enable discovery of products to consumers. The role will deliver creative solutions to increase product development throughput by 10X through Gen AI solutions.

The role: We are looking for a stellar experienced Software Development Manager (SDM) to build and lead a team that delivers the unified PLM solution by developing the technical architecture across front-end and backend, delivers Gen AI solution to drive automation, and build scalable software that can scale across APB, Fresh, and Whole Foods Market businesses for online and in-store product development.

This is a fast paced, highly collaborative startup-like environment inside Amazon. To be successful you need to be flexible, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating with ambiguity. You are a true owner - you think backwards from the customer experience, are passionate about the potential customer impact and will operate at all levels. You will be able to create new innovative customer experiences from ideation to prototype to production, as well as shape the team roadmap with your innovations. You will work with Principal Engineers, Software Directors, and TPMs across multiple VP orgs.

Key job responsibilities

We’re looking for strong software leaders who are passionate about building delightful, high-impact products for our internal and external customers.

* You will be responsible for leading the team by setting the team's roadmap, mechanisms, and development processes. You are responsible for setting the vision as well as the overall delivery of the team.

* You will be responsible for planning architecture designs, delivering key customer facing capabilities for internal and external users, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.

* You will be responsible for managing key partnerships and stakeholder relationships.

* You will be responsible for setting the team's culture and hiring and developing talent on the team.

* You will work closely across product, science, and design job families to come up with new solutions for customers.

* You will adopt an AI-first mindset and set up the infrastructure and leverage best practices for your team to leverage AI to improve developer productivity and experience.

* You will ensure and monitor the correctness, reliability, scalability, and performance of the software delivered.

* You will establish best practices for engineering: code reviews, architecture standards, test coverage, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, incident response.

About the team

Amazon Private Brands (APB) is a highly visible global business. We aspire to make every day better with the most trusted products on the planet.

This team builds functional modules within the Product Lifecycle Management tool to accelerate speed to market for new product development for Amazon Private Brands (APB) and reduce dwell time for specific processes. Examples include: Developing an externalized module for sourcing Request For Quotations (RFQs) from APB suppliers, launching an automated process to manage sustainability and quality related claims for APB products, and automating ASIN and Detail Page creation on Amazon systems. We are now expanding the scale of the PLM tool across Fresh and Whole Foods businesses.



Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience

- 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience

- 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience

- 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience

- 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience

- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
