Description
Have you wanted an opportunity to lead embedded software teams and cloud service team in an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Bus Software teams own embedded software, firmware for Amazon Leo satellite constellation as well as cloud services that control and orchestrate Leo fleet operations.This role is for a senior leader in Leo is responsible for driving roadmap, requirements and technical design across embedded components for different satellite hardware as well ground services that manage the fleet operations. You will work with your customers, partners to refine requirements, understand constraints, hiring & growing your team and iteratively delivering value to our customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the mission needs.
- Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.
- Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.
- Aid in the design of mission critical systems in Amazon Leo.
- Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Leo
- Help on-board and mentor new team members.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
About the team
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. This team owns critical on satellite actors as well ground backend services.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Extended Qualifications
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
