Description
The vision for the Organization Planning and Effectiveness org is to build for the first time at Amazon enterprise tools for executive talent management and organization design/health that surface critical talent insights, drives actions to improve organizational strength and create future-ready leaders, and helps leaders model multiple org design scenarios and dynamically evaluate the impact of org changes in an agile and data-driven way.Your role as a Software Development Manager will be to bring your expertise in people management and technical leadership to the forefront as you help bring our OPE tools to the next level of customer delight. You will support existing tools looking to enhance functionality, and transform in new ways to meet our customer demands. Your knowledge of Operational Excellence and System Design will be fundamental to the long term vision and goals of the organization. Your team will build and manage new features to drive support and scaling of existing solutions. You will work with some of the best and brightest as you establish and grow a team of Software Developers.

Key job responsibilities
• Responsible for the over-all systems development life cycle management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments;
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
• Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
• Collaborating closely with senior leaders across the OPE organization to influence and drive broader product and technical strategy alignment
• Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of software development experience or Masters degree and 3+ years of experience- 2+ years of people management experience and leading teams
- Proven track record of leading teams and delivering projects at scale
- Communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences including Product leads, Senior leaders, and software developers
Extended Qualifications
- Experience leading agile development teams and scrum spring planning- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $245,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
