Description
As a Software Development Manager in Global Logistics Tech, you will shape Amazon's future by leading quality assurance initiatives and innovative test automation. You will oversee the development of sophisticated testing frameworks that ensure reliability and performance of mission-critical logistics systems serving millions of customers worldwide. Your leadership will directly impact Amazon's ability to deliver products efficiently across our global network.Key job responsibilities
- Build and develop a high-performing Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) team
- Own end-to-end delivery of testing tools, from design through maintenance
- Define strategic direction and technical roadmap for quality assurance initiatives
- Collaborate with SDMs, Principal Engineers, and Senior Software Engineers to align on quality objectives
- Lead cross-organizational programs with enterprise-wide impact
- Manage system operations and performance
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices across the development lifecycle
- Recruit and mentor software engineering talent
A day in the life
Your day typically begins with a team standup where you align priorities and unblock critical issues. You'll spend time reviewing technical designs, providing architectural guidance, and ensuring testing frameworks meet scalability requirements. You'll collaborate with product teams to understand requirements and coordinate testing strategies. Regular 1:1s with your team members focus on career development and technical mentorship. You'll also engage with senior leadership to communicate testing strategy and quality metrics.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
