Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Join us in revolutionizing global internet connectivity through Kuiper's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network. We're seeking a dynamic leader to drive the development of our customer-facing platforms that will connect millions of customers worldwide.

Role Impact:

• Lead the development and operations of mission-critical cloud systems on AWS that power Kuiper's global Internet Service Provider (ISP) infrastructure

• Own end-to-end customer experiences across Kuiper's web and mobile platforms

• Drive technical architecture and implementation decisions that will scale globally

• Partner with product, UX, and business stakeholders to define and execute customer-centric roadmaps

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and lead engineering teams developing cloud-native applications for Kuiper's global ISP operations

• Own the technical vision and implementation of customer-facing cloud platforms

• Ensure high availability and reliability of mission-critical systems supporting customer operations worldwide

• Drive innovation in customer experience while maintaining enterprise-grade security and compliance

• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities

- Build and execute a roadmap for Kuiper customer experiences.

- Work with our peer teams and stakeholders to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill customer needs.

- Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.

- Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.

- Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.

- Help on-board and mentor new team members.

A day in the life

You will work with Product Management, UX, and Business Stakeholders on defining the roadmap for Kuiper's customer lifecycle. You will own solving customer problems and building software that is flexible for many different customer use cases and countries, to support Kuiper's global footprint.



Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
