We are the People eXperience Technology (PXT), responsible for providing the software products that 1.5 million Amazonians use daily to manage their career and that of their teams, find information when they need it and remain connected to life at Amazon. We build products based on the latest AWS and third-party technologies powered by data insights, machine learning and smart automation. At PXT we serve Amazonians through a human-centered design approach to technology innovation with the goal of supporting Amazon’s mission to be Earth’s best employer.You will be joining the A to Z team within PXT. A to Z serves as the ingress for PXT (People Experience and Technology) applications. It offers both a mobile app and a web interface, catering to different employee needs. A to Z streamlines employee experiences by offering a unified, user-friendly interface for essential work-related tasks and information.
In this role, as a Software Development Manager and a tech leader, you will manage a team of talented Software Engineers who are working on executing the A to Z vision. You will regularly interact with the product team as well as other tech teams as you design and deliver state of the art technologies to evolve our product. You’ll work in a fast paced environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. As a multi-discipline leader, the buck will stop with you for your team.
To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in technology, excellent project and people management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on breadth (large scope) software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building and operating mobile and web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, with focus on compliance and security, will be very applicable and helpful.

Key job responsibilities
- Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, test, implementation of complex problems including planning, risk, trade-offs.
- Guide and ensure quality of architectural decisions across products and teams.
- Work with customers, technical staff, business leaders to define and deliver complex features.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for integrations across the org and outside to deliver excellent value to customers.
- Help establish the long-term success strategy for your systems, development best practices, and operational excellence processes.
- Provide technical direction and mentor team members.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
