Description

Amazon's Executive Talent Management (ETM) team is re-building our product suite, re-imagining how Amazon's senior leadership approaches succession planning and data-driven talent decisions. As part of Senior Talent & Transformation (STT), we're evolving our enterprise-wide platform to address the limitations of the current system while preserving what works—creating intuitive, scalable solutions that serve executive business leaders and their PXT partners.

We're seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to architect and deliver core product features that synthesize Amazon's leadership talent data into actionable experiences. You'll work with other senior engineers within Senior Leadership Experiences org, UX designers, and product managers to build scalable solutions using the full AWS stack. You will also pioneer agentic AI systems that transform how leaders interact with talent data—establishing the technical patterns and capabilities that will define the next generation of intelligent leadership tools. You will set technical standards that shape how Amazon's most senior leaders manage and develop their organizations

The ideal candidate thrives on ambiguous problems, values collaboration and data-driven decisions, and brings both technical depth and business domain curiosity. You'll force-multiply the team's impact through mentorship, technical leadership, and a track record of successfully shipping customer-focused features.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer on the SLX team, you will:

1. Design and architect scalable solutions for Executive Talent Management product features that serve Amazon's senior leadership, ensuring systems can handle enterprise-wide scale and complexity

2. Drive technical excellence across the full software development lifecycle, from design and code reviews to deployment and operational excellence, establishing best practices that elevate team standards

3. Collaborate cross-functionally with UX designers, product managers, research scientists, and partner teams to translate complex talent management requirements into intuitive, data-driven experiences

4. Mentor and develop engineers on the team, conducting code reviews, sharing technical expertise, and helping grow engineering capabilities across the organization

5. Lead feature development from conception to launch, taking ownership of both frontend and backend implementation while optimizing for performance, scalability, and user experience

6. Contribute to system architecture decisions, working with senior engineers to establish integration patterns and technical standards that enable seamless data access across Amazon's HR and business systems

7. Champion operational rigor by building monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks that ensure high availability and rapid incident response for production systems
