Description
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Manufacturing systems engineering (MSE) under Amazon Leo Prod-Ops is responsible for delivering software solutions that improve speed and quality of Amazon Leo manufacturing systems. We partner with engineering and production teams to bring reliability and repeatability to our systems, improve throughput and accelerate the transition. We are looking for a software engineer with experience in delivering software solutions that scale as we ramp up our manufacturing throughput. We are looking for a candidate with hands on experience in programming languages like python, rust or java and is familiar with AWS cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
Participate in all phases of software development lifecycle from requirements to implementation and deployment to operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders such as factory planners and technicians to launch customer centric software solution that scale.
Lead technical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as satellite software and hardware engineering teams.
Design flexible solutions for complex problems with multiple unknowns with exceptional performance & reliability.
Utilize AWS infrastructure and services such as Lambda, IAM, SNS/SQS, DocumentDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IoT etc.
Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Extended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience programming with Rust.
- Experience with software & hardware interfaces.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $99,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
