Our team owns the largest content marketing system at Amazon driving billions of dollars through marketing sales and Prime memberships. We power content to millions of customers through Amazon website, mobile, email, and other devices across shopping, streaming and reading experiences.The Content System at Amazon is looking for talented Software Development Engineers with a passion for technologies and services that filter, rank, select, and deliver optimal curated content to Amazon Shoppers across Retail websites and devices. We empower discovery, simplify purchase decisions, and create engaging shopping and Prime membership experiences, handling over hundreds of billions content requests daily and driving tens of billions aOPS annually. As a Software Development Engineer, you will get to collaborate with senior engineers and applied scientists across a large cross-section of the technical stacks. This role provides you with autonomy and ownership of decisions, working backwards directly from customers. There is ample of opportunity for growth due to the high visibility work, and presence of senior tech leaders for guidance and mentorship. You have the opportunity build on top of native AWS services and leverage GenAI, machine learning, and computer vision to enhance the content creation and distribution process.
Key job responsibilities
* You design infrastructure and workflows that support delivering AI enabled features along content lifecycle to improve the Amazon customer experiences.
* You take ownership, discussing and delivering on deep technical details with other engineers and scientists on and across teams, collaborating with them to solve challenging problems.
* You create plans, communicate requirements, negotiate priorities, and clarify what success looks like.
* You define, deliver, and/or implement a variety of high quality, correct, customer focused technical solutions.
* You provide clear and concise verbal and written communication.
* You facilitate dialogue, asking productive questions, providing recommendations, and fostering a shared understanding to identify risks and meet business needs.
* You participate in reviews of your peers’ work and provide useful and actionable input when submitted.
* You raise the bar on operational excellence.
A day in the life
This is a role that involves partnering closely with other technical leaders, engaging with scientists and influencing program leaders. It requires leading execution and delivery by project teams across Amazon Web&Mobile Shopping Foundation and its clients, like Percolate, Customer Behavioral Analytics and key page experiences owners like Homepage, Prime, Search and Detail Pages.. One day you may be driving a system design, and another you may be leading delivery for a complex deployment, or participating in how to improve how the team operates. You may be plugged into an important operational issue that is impacting the health of the Store, influencing your team to make the best decision for the customer in the moment.
About the team
This team owns two mission critical tier-1 services that are critical for serving billions of shopping requests daily.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
