Description

Prime Video is disrupting traditional media with an ever-increasing selection of movies, TV shows, Emmy Award winning original content, add-on subscriptions including HBO and Showtime, and live events like Thursday Night Football. Making great content available to customers, with high availability is just one part of the puzzle. Experimenting with different ways of making this content available to customers is equally important.

Linear (24/7 Television or broadcast programming) is one of the key options for Prime Video customers. Although video on demand is on the rise, the global viewing hours weighs in favor of live or scheduled TV and OTT linear streamin. We in Linear Personalization are building next gen personalization and recommendation systems to provide best-in-class Linear TV experience to Prime Video customers. It is Day 1 for personalizing linear TV experience on Prime Video.

We are looking for strong developers who are passionate about delivering excellent, digital media experiences to our customers. It is an opportunity to work with Principal and senior engineers to build high-speed data delivery systems, and creating simple solutions for the complex media ingestion and publishing processes.

Successful candidates for this position will have a strong background in C++/Java, Python and/or SQL while experience with ElasticSearch, AWS services including Dynamo, SQS, Athena will help you contribute quickly. Exposure to Machine Learning, models and AI will be useful in this role.

Equally important to these specific skills are a candidate's ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to new development environments and changing business requirements, learn new systems, create reliable/maintainable code, find creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both written and orally.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer on Linear Personalization Experience (LPEX) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition, design, and development of innovative software products which will help boost engineers productivity in Amazon, for improving services’ posture towards security, availability, efficiency, compliance and maintainability.

Key responsibilities:

- Define system architecture, own and implement specific components and help shape the overall billing experience by bringing perspective and context of current technology choices and guide future technology choices.

- Lead projects that require work of multiple engineers.

- Define and drive software best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, and testing.

- Collaborate closely with product managers, technical project managers, architects and PE from within and cross-functional teams across PV.

- You will take responsibility for technical problem solving and creatively meeting product objectives in ambiguous scenarios where customer problems are defined but technology strategy is not yet defined.

- Coach and mentor engineers on the team to foster a supportive culture of collaboration, scalability, and performance.

LPEX's vision is to surface the breadth and depth of PV’s Linear selection at the right moment of time to its customer’s by curating the most relevant linear programming, tailored to their individual tastes, purchase behaviors, schedules and viewing habits while simultaneously elevating awareness of our extensive Linear catalog.

Our mission is to anticipate and exceed viewers' expectations, fostering deeper connections with the content they love while elevating awareness of our extensive live TV catalog and adapting to viewers' preferences and propensities for both live and on-demand viewing, enriching the overall entertainment journey.



Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language



Extended Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
