The Linear Customer Experiences (LEX) team is responsible for bringing this compelling Live TV experience to life across all Prime Video client platforms. We craft intuitive, performant, and engaging user interfaces that make it easy for customers to discover and enjoy their favorite live content. We collaborate with multiple engineering teams within Prime Video to build worry-free and best-in-class CX in service of our vision to be the world’s most-loved linear streaming platform.
We're seeking talented Software Development Engineers to join our Living Room LEX team, building immersive experiences for Web and 3P Living Room devices (Smart TVs, gaming consoles, streaming devices). Our living room apps need to handle the complexities of different TV platforms while delivering a consistent, high-quality viewing experience optimized for the lean-back environment. You will be working on features/projects where you need to build tech from ground-up involving contributing to the entire software development life cycle.
Key job responsibilities
* Design and implement Linear TV experiences for Web and 3PLR platforms
* Build performant UI components optimized for TV navigation and remote control input
* Create sophisticated program guides and channel browsing experiences
* Implement efficient rendering techniques for resource-constrained devices
* Optimize application startup time and runtime performance
* Work with partner teams to integrate with backend services and APIs to enable personalized content recommendations
* Ensure consistent behavior across different TV platforms and browsers
* Create reusable components that can be shared across Prime Video living room apps
* Collaborate with UX designers to implement 10-foot UI experiences
* Drive improvements in app stability and performance metrics
A day in the life
You'll work on features that directly impact how millions of customers experience Live TV. Your day might involve optimizing a new UI component's performance, implementing a new feature from the Linear Discovery Service, collaborating with UX designers on a new viewing experience, or solving platform-specific challenges. You'll balance customer experience, performance, and maintainability while ensuring our apps meet the high standards our customers expect.
About the team
The Linear Experience (LEX) team is responsible for bringing Prime Video's Live TV experience to life across all client platforms. We work closely with Linear Discovery Services and UX teams to create compelling, personalized viewing experiences. Our applications serve millions of customers daily, providing seamless access to live content across devices.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Strong experience in Rust, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks
- Experience with TV app development and complex state management in resource-constrained environments
- Knowledge of video playback, DRM and streaming technologies
- Understanding of TV platform limitations and optimization techniques
- Experience with cross-platform development and browser compatibility
- Familiarity with WebGL or similar graphics technologies
- Experience with or willingness to learn accessibility features for TV platforms
- Familiarity with analytics and performance monitoring tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
