Description
The Outbound Communication Services team operates the foundational systems that enable Amazon and its subsidiaries to communicate with customers through Email, SMS and Push endpoints. We build and maintain intuitive user interfaces and administrative consoles that allow teams to manage their communication workflows efficiently. Our mission is to successfully transmit selected messages to customers ensuring high availability and low latency, while providing robust visualization tools to monitor performance metrics and gathering near real-time feedback from endpoints to create closed loop optimizations. We are passionate about building scalable software which processes billions of transactions at high TPS, along with modern, responsive front-end applications. We constantly improve our technical foundation, user experience, and UI/UX design patterns. As a Software Development Engineer on the team, you'll have huge impact on how customers, including friends and family, engage with Amazon through our communication platforms and interfaces.
We love to work with smart people who have a strong sense of ownership and strong engineering mindset across both backend systems and front-end technologies. You are a technical leader who can bridge UI/UX design with backend architecture. You provide perspective and context for technology choices, including modern front-end frameworks and UI component libraries. Also, you are up to the challenge of real-time messaging strategies, latency optimization, TPS monitoring dashboards, mobile network limitations, device fragmentation, and building an end-to-end platform with intuitive interfaces that internal Amazon teams can easily integrate with. You motivate your team to pursue ambiguous situations and rapidly produce prototypes with clean, user-friendly interfaces for a more personalized experience. You outline paths from prototype to product while maintaining high standards for UI/UX. You deeply invest in each colleague's career growth, improving their technical knowledge across full-stack development, and defining your team's operational metrics.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will participate in the full development cycle - from UI/UX design, implementation and backend API service implementation. This includes designing user interfaces, developing front-end applications, implementing backend services, testing, and producing comprehensive documentation for large-scale distributed software applications. You'll translate functional requirements into robust, scalable solutions with intuitive user interfaces that work well within the overall system architecture. You'll evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products, tools, and UI frameworks. Taking your ideas from inception to deployment, you will apply your full-stack engineering expertise to shape, refine, and redefine our systems. You will come up with new data-driven ways to continuously improve our solutions and create robust yet simple interfaces that empower business owners.
We strongly believe in fostering a great team culture of appreciation, inclusion and diversity. Weekly game nights and happy hours provide us opportunities to have fun, socialize and foster great team collaboration.
