Description

As a team, we leverage GenAI, sensors, smart home devices, cloud services, material science, and Alexa to build products that have a meaningful impact for customers and the climate.In alignment with this bold corporate goal, the Amazon Devices & Services organization is looking for a Software Development Engineer to be a key contributor to the development of new, scalable, cloud-based systems to help us deliver products for a zero-carbon future.
Key job responsibilities
- You'll own building and launching new systems and customer experiences that help Amazon meet its Climate Pledge goal
- You own ensuring the long-term quality and success of the products that we build, driving continuous improvement in engineering and operational excellence
- You'll work with your manager and teammates to clarify requirements, design solutions, and solve difficult software problems
- You'll identify appropriate tradeoffs and escalate when you realize that a problem is beyond your control
- You'll mentor your new teammates and help them learn to develop production software in line with Amazon's quality bar
- You'll work cross-functionally to ensure that what we build is right for customers, right for the business, and right for long-term scalability.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical tradeoffs
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in MLOps or ML engineering, including building and deploying machine learning systems
- Experience working on the Alexa ecosystem and services
- Experience in building data engineering pipelines handling high volumes of data
- Experience working in a startup-like environment
- Experience operating and maintaining cloud-based services
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
