The Mobile Build Experience (MBX) team in ASBX empowers thousands of developers across Amazon to build, test, and ship mobile and device experiences that delight millions of customers worldwide. We create the foundational infrastructure that enables teams building products like the Mobile Shopping app, Kindle, Alexa, Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Photos to move fast while maintaining the highest standards of quality and security.Mobile and device products are how hundreds of millions of customers interact with Amazon every day. As an SDE II, you'll solve challenging systems problems at massive scale—from build orchestration and code signing to intelligent resource allocation. We're building next-generation mobile and device infrastructure that powers iOS, Android, and embedded systems development across Amazon, scaling to support thousands of developers and hundreds of thousands of daily builds.
What You'll Do:
- Own critical components of Amazon's mobile build infrastructure serving teams like Kindle, Alexa, Prime Video, and the Mobile Shopping app
- Design and implement systems that handle code compilation, security signing, testing, and deployment at scale
- Leverage automation and intelligent tooling to reduce build times and eliminate developer friction
- Scale systems handling continuous growth while maintaining high performance, reliability, and security
- Debug complex distributed systems issues across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, embedded)
- Mentor teammates on operational excellence, system design, and mobile platform best practices

Key job responsibilities
Build the Foundation for Mobile Innovation
- Design and deliver scalable infrastructure supporting iOS, Android, and embedded systems development across Amazon
- Create systems handling code compilation, security signing, testing, and deployment for hundreds of teams
- Solve distributed systems problems impacting developer productivity and product velocity
Enable Teams to Move Faster and Safer
- Partner with product teams to understand build challenges and deliver solutions that multiply their effectiveness
- Reduce build times, improve reliability, and eliminate toil so developers focus on features instead of infrastructure
- Implement security controls that protect customers while maintaining developer agility
Deliver Operational Excellence at Scale
- Ensure infrastructure serving thousands of daily builds maintains high availability and performance
- Build monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation to catch problems before they impact developers
- Drive continuous improvement through metrics and data-driven decisions
Lead Through Technical Excellence
- Drive technical strategy across ASBX and partner organizations
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and establish best practices
- Navigate ambiguity to deliver solutions in complex problem spaces
Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 1+ years of Apple platform development experience, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
