Here your technical leadership will directly impact how children interact with technology and parents engage with their children's digital experiences.We're seeking a forward-thinking Sr SDM to lead the deliver of key products and technology, by applying Gen AI, Machine Learning, and bottoms up evolution of our current tech stack to create breakthrough digital experiences for children. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate exemplary robustness in device software, scalable distributed systems, and development of Gen AI/ML customer-facing applications.

Key job responsibilities
1. Own and deliver against a high impact vision that reinvent the Amazon Kids+ experiences by integrating Gen AI and Machine Learning to create breakthrough digital experiences for children
2. Advise and influence on product and roadmap decisions to achieve high impact business goals that drive Kids+ subscriber growth.
3. Lead the implementation of scalable, secure software systems that balance innovative technology that meets exceptionally high standards for child safety and transparent parental control
3. Ensure teams' architecture and product implementation is robustly performant, can scale internationally, and hits a high bar for compliance with child privacy regulations across all Kids Edition Devices sold across the world.
4. Develop high-performing team(s) that set new engineering standards to elevate the technical capabilities of the Amazon Kids team.
5. Communicate complex technical strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences; including peers, senior leaders, and key stakeholders.
A day in the life
- Lead and develop high-performing engineering talent fluent in Gen AI development and strong in customer obsession
- Work with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, product designers, and child development experts to deliver transformative digital experiences that foster children's independence and imagination
- Be hands-on in shaping product experiences, user interfaces, and team processes that prioritize child engagement, learning, and safety
- Challenge existing approaches to develop breakthrough technologies that enhance how children learn, play, and explore with devices
- Partner closely with device hardware, services, and content teams to create seamless, delightful, and highly reliable digital experiences across Kids Edition Devices

Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 6+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Extended Qualifications
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
- Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
- Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
- Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions (technology, procedures, processes, etc.) in a regulated environment
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams
- Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
- Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
- Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience in customer-facing product development and product management, including defining, launching, and optimizing product and services
- 7+ years of highly scalable systems experience
- Experience in cross-functional (design, engineering, usability, content development) work
- Demonstrated ability to integrate Gen AI/ML into consumer products, ideally in a customer-facing or product-embedded context.
- Experience partnering across hardware, services, and content teams to deliver seamless, reliable digital experiences across a device portfolio.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
