Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer who thrives at the forefront of technology, science, and security to join Artificial Intelligence Security (AISec), working with teams across Amazon to accelerate delivery of spectacular, safe, secure, models, agents, and applications.You dive deep into of details of business, operations, and engineering. You are a deeply-technical, detail-oriented leader who can build and grow organizations and other leaders. Our team culture encourages innovation and we expect builders and managers deeply own vision, strategy, and execution. You will have the opportunity to engage with technologies that are actively being developed. In addition to engineering teams, you will work directly with infrastructure and partner service teams.
You are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be a positive influencer across diverse teams, be able to effectively rally support for your initiatives,
and be able to help deeply technical teams create simple solutions to meet your program goals.
You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach.
In Amazon Security, we’re growing rapidly and we need leaders that can grow and scale their
organizations at a rapid pace. You’ll also need strong judgment. Our leaders demonstrate ownership and autonomy so they need to be right a lot. You will have to be obsessed with delivering the most customer-centric experience for security engineering on the planet. Finally, you’ll need to be able to invent and simplify which is what we do every day on Amazon service teams.
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
· Building a massively scalable global security service that is core to all Amazon services.
· Owning the definition of best practices for the software development lifecycle used by junior engineers, including its design, implementation, testing, and operational characteristics.
· Working as part of cross-functional teams to develop secure solutions for our customers.
· Owning the technology stack for one of the most secure and reliable services in all of Amazon.
A day in the life
As a Senior Engineer you’ll be expected to:
• Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
• Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.
• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Leverage knowledge of internal and industry prior art in design decisions.
• Effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against other competing systems in the industry.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Extended Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
