We are looking for engineers with hands on security systems design and development experience. As a Security System Engineer, you are responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting security systems, including IP surveillance cameras, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and all other security facing systems as needed. This role requires a blend of technical network expertise with a deep understanding of physical security technology and industry standards. Scope of work includes complex integrations of security systems involving multiple teams inside and outside the organization. Also, the duties include security system design and engineering, working with the data center architectural and engineering teams to assure security best practices are observed, drafting new systems into the design teams build plans and specifications, and coordinating with regional and local physical security leaders to understand the new building and security system designs.

In this role you will work with the Principals and the Senior Engineers to drive the standardization of designs across the global region in production data centers and resolve open technical issues in the security systems space. As part of the team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will drive multiple projects, including security systems deployments and retrofitting legacy equipment's. Utilizing Amazon Leadership principles, you will develop new processes or standards and test new innovations in the physical security space. You will participate in the research and development of new technologies and designs applicable to our products or services. You will be also responsible for writing technical documentation for such projects. You must be capable of defining critical equipment specifications and approving equipment submittals. You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the security systems engineering field. At Amazon we highly support continued learning opportunities and focus on continued employee development. Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 25%. International support will be part of the job and some international travel will be necessary. Support could consist of working on international teams and require developing schematic and/or design document packages so an understanding of international electrical design requirements is preferable.

Key job responsibilities

* Design and engineer comprehensive security systems incorporating access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related technologies

* Collaborate with data center architectural and engineering teams to integrate security requirements into facility designs

* Develop technical specifications and build plans for security system implementations

* Partner with regional and local physical security leaders to align security solutions with facility requirements

* Lead complex system integration projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders

* Evaluate new security technologies and recommend solutions that enhance facility protection

* Create detailed technical documentation for security systems and configurations

* Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational security policies

* Provide technical guidance to project teams during implementation phases

* Domestic and international travel approximately 25% of the time

DCE Security Solutions team provides engineering expertise and design support for security devices and solutions in data centers globally. We own and support security products throughout their lifecycle. Our scope also includes emergent global scale remediation strategic efforts that impact Data Center Security and introducing and driving business improvement initiatives increasing visibility and enabling data driven decision making.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Security or related technical field

- 5+ years experience in security systems, integration, hardware development engineering or similar role

- 5+ years experience in IP networking, including TCP/IP protocols and network architecture related to physical security systems

- 5+ years experience in communication protocols used in physical security systems (RS-485, RTSP, UDP)

- 2+ years experience in with enterprise security systems (Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, Mass Notification)



Extended Qualifications

- Master's degree in relevant field

- Professional security certifications (PSP, CPP, CISSP)

- Experience with data center or critical infrastructure security

- Knowledge of building management systems and integration protocols

- Experience in AutoCAD or similar design software

- Familiarity with cloud security architectures

- Experience with API integration and secure programming concepts

- Prior experience leading cross-functional technical teams

- CPTED Certification

- Understanding of security industry standards and best practices (NIST, ISO, ONVIF)

- Project management experience in technical environments

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
