Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Construction Manager with extensive electrical expertise to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will show direct involvement in complex construction projects while bringing specialized knowledge in electrical systems, code compliance, and safety protocols, including electrical innovation, a strong understanding of NEC regulations, and the ability to review and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.

Key job responsibilities

Define and develop large-scale technical strategies across multiple team boundaries, coordinated with internal and external stakeholders to drive AWS objectives. Set vision and design long-term solutions where problems may be ambiguous, delivering with complete independence when necessary.

Solve significantly complex or systemic scheduling problems by originating and delivering innovative, scalable technical and commercial solutions. Deliver solutions through technical papers, direct product feedback, agreements, revised vendor contracts, new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and policy updates.

Develop scalable and repeatable schedule management solutions that enable AWS to scale. Leverage subject matter expertise to identify root causes to business-critical scheduling issues, formulate strategies, and propose solutions to address root causes (e.g., design changes, single points of failure, regulatory changes).

Lead and mentor a team of Schedule Controls Managers and contracted Schedulers, providing guidance and development opportunities.

Develop and analyze project schedules (L1-L5), identifying critical paths and optimization opportunities to ensure timely project delivery.

Facilitate Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM) with internal and external stakeholders to align on schedule expectations and deliverables.

Conduct schedule risk assessments and what-if scenarios to proactively identify and mitigate potential delays.

Review and validate contractor schedules and resource loading to ensure accuracy and feasibility.

Prepare executive-level schedule status reports and dashboards for leadership visibility.

Oversee Earned Value Management (EVM) implementation for schedule tracking and performance measurement.

Support schedule forensic analysis and improvement initiatives to drive continuous optimization.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science plus 10+ years of relevant construction experience, OR 15+ years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree. 10+ years of experience supporting large, complex construction projects, specifically related to electrical scope. Must have the ability to analyze electrical systems and provide recommended solutions and improvements to challenges faced in the field



Extended Qualifications

- MS in Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural). 15+ Yrs. Exp in Construction Management of large-scale projects plus 15+ Yrs. Exp. Project Management and Vendor Management along with 8+ Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and electrical engineering principals. Experience designing data centers or critical electrical infrastructure and certified as a Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
