Establish governance structures that enable rapid decision-making while maintaining alignment between US and EU operations.
Program Strategy: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive shipper education and awareness programs tailored to both US and EU regulatory environments. Design and implement standardized onboarding processes, training materials, and documentation that address market-specific requirements while maintaining operational consistency. Partner with sales, content, and marketing teams across both regions to create educational resources that align with local industry standards while maintaining competitive advantage. Develop multilingual support capabilities and culturally appropriate communication strategies for the EU market.
Enablement & Adoption: Drive strategic initiatives to expand DG shipping capabilities across the US and EU networks. Develop and execute programs to increase shipper participation in both markets while maintaining strict safety standards that meet or exceed regional regulatory requirements. Lead the creation of scalable solutions that simplify compliance processes without compromising safety, including the implementation of enhanced API capabilities and improved error handling systems that accommodate both US and EU classification systems. Establish frameworks for managing differences in packaging requirements, labeling standards, and documentation between the two markets.
Detection Systems & Controls: Oversee the development and implementation of advanced detection systems for non-compliant dangerous goods across US and EU operations. Lead the expansion of automated detection tools across sort centers in both regions while ensuring consistent inspection protocols that meet local regulatory standards. Design and implement scalable solutions that balance operational efficiency with varying compliance requirements between US DOT and EU ADR frameworks. Establish harmonized detection capabilities that can identify violations under both regulatory regimes while maintaining operational efficiency.
Enforcement & Response Framework: Establish and maintain standardized worldwide frameworks for managing DG violations and escalations, with specific protocols addressing US and EU regulatory reporting requirements. Develop progressive response protocols based on case severity levels, ensuring consistent enforcement across regions while accommodating differences in legal frameworks and regulatory expectations. Create and implement cost recovery mechanisms and corrective action programs that drive continuous improvement in shipper compliance across both markets. Build relationships with regulatory authorities in both the US and EU to ensure proactive compliance management.
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Management: As the program owner for Amazon Shipping's DG & Shipper Risk initiatives across US and EU markets, this role serves as the central pivot point of leadership across a complex matrix of critical stakeholders spanning multiple geographies. The position requires building and maintaining strong partnerships with Product, Operations, Sales, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, and Central Dangerous Goods teams in both regions, while managing relationships with external carriers, regulatory bodies, and industry associations across both markets. Success in this role demands excellence in executive communication, including regular updates to leadership on program performance and strategic initiatives across geographies. The role coordinates closely with international counterparts to ensure consistent program implementation while maintaining flexibility to address market-specific requirements in the US and EU.
