Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Project Kuiper, you will lead a team of Engineers directly responsible for the production of the Propulsion system. You will utilize innovative solutions and technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level.

You will be a critical lynchpin between the production, development, tooling, supply chain and quality teams, and lead production on the assembly line as well as new production introduction. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally, you will be responsible for supporting the standing up of new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Kuiper’s build ramp, making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.

Key job responsibilities

- Manage a team of Manufacturing and Lab Engineers

- Drive manufacturing processes improvements by implementing and owning SPC

- Interface with facilities personnel in site development and all utility requirements definition.

- Coordinate with design and test teams to prioritize and execute process changes

- Lead manufacturing support activities such as non-conformance investigations, and strategic efforts to deliver a design supporting ambitious production rate targets

- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues, where appropriate

- Coordinate with Propulsion teams on manufacturing fixture design

- Work effectively with the satellite manufacturing team, and supply chain to coordinate rolling and block design changes of the Propulsion System

- Coordinate with partner teams for detailed engineering analysis



Qualifications

- Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related field.

- 5+ years experience in a production environment

- 5+ years experience in RCCA

- 5+ years experience in SPC

- 2+ years experience in direct people management or lead position



Extended Qualifications

- Experience and success working with peer and stakeholder engineering teams and stakeholder teams: test, design, structural analysis, and loads

- Demonstrated experience developing, defining, and deploying internal process standards for a company or team, with input from stakeholder teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
