The Global Transportation Services team (GTS) at Amazon is comprised of high-powered dynamic teams which are shaping network execution through the development and application of innovative transportation and delivery management concepts.We are seeking an ambitious and analytical Program Manager II to join our Transportation Engineering Systems team, focusing on network change deployment supporting our AMZL network. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your transportation and systems expertise to optimize one of the world's largest and most complex transportation networks.
As a Program Manager for Transportation Engineering Systems, you will be at the intersection of design, technology, and logistics. Your mission will be to enhance our transportation speed, cost management and decision-making processes, directly impacting Amazon's operational efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
Key job responsibilities
- Lead Transportation design improvements and program related optimization
- Work with technical teams to ensure proper integration into tier-1 transportation systems
- Drive process improvements helping drive improved network integration
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with both internal and external planning teams
- Also partner with key transportation stakeholders (NASC, AMZL, RSR etc.) to deliver on new initiatives
- Lead documentation and partnership with SDE's and BIEs to enhance automated solutions and data analytics capabilities
- Drive effective prioritization and key trade-off discussions
Project Execution & Leadership:
- Define clear objectives and success metrics for new initiatives
- Lead retrospective learning sessions and implement continuous process improvement mechanisms
- Manage stakeholder communications and project deliverables
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Develop and maintain KPIs for transportation program management
- Create actionable insights from complex data sets and direct customer feedback
Success in this role requires strong program management, systems thinking, and excellent stakeholder management skills. You'll drive significant impact by optimizing one of the world's largest transportation networks while working with advanced logistics systems.
A day in the life
As a Program Manager, your typical day might include:
- Prioritizing the weekly workflow for one or more business programs
- Leading cross-functional meetings with key business stakeholders discussing upcoming timelines and deliverables along with any potential obstacles
- Conducting a deep-dive analysis on a specific transportation issue through our deep-dive tools to further optimize shipment assignment decisions
- Mentoring junior PM's on technical modules leading to improved design parameters
- Prioritizing action items and planning for upcoming project milestones
About the team
Amazon’s Transportation Engineering Systems Team owns the configuration of each setting in Amazon’s transportation systems. These settings are used to provide the committed delivery date on the website “order in the next 3 hour and get it tomorrow”, and then used to plan and route every order such that we meet the commitment to our customers. Every week 1000's of changes are made as we seek to grow the business and optimize our resources.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of program or project management experience- 5+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization- 5+ years of driving process improvements experience
- 5+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
