Description
We're seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to perform hands-on quality assurance testing and monitoring for Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores Private Brands products. This role focuses on conducting routine quality assessments, laboratory testing, and daily monitoring of product specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards. Based in our Seattle offices, you will perform physical and analytical testing, maintain accurate documentation, and support quality verification processes through hands-on evaluation of products. This position requires strong technical skills and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced laboratory setting.Key job responsibilities
• Perform quality testing for samples from first production, retention, or those related to consumer complaints.
• Execute and document shelf-life verification testing.
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Manage retention sample inventory and storage conditions.
• Enter test results and quality data into designated systems accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all test results and quality checks.
• Communicate any immediate quality concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
• Support investigation of quality deviations as directed.
A day in the life
As a Product Quality Technician, you'll work in both laboratory and office environments. Your day might start with laboratory testing of new production samples or investigating products from consumer complaints, then shift to joining team meetings to provide technical input on test results. You'll balance hands-on quality testing with documentation and data entry tasks. Throughout the day, you'll manage retention sample inventory, conduct shelf-life studies, and ensure proper equipment maintenance, while also collaborating with team members on quality investigations. This dynamic role requires flexibility to move between laboratory work and office responsibilities, all while maintaining accurate records and following standard operating procedures.
About the team
This role is part of the Product Quality team within Amazon's World Wide Grocery Stores Private Brands organization. We manage over 4,000 private label products across Amazon and Whole Foods Market, available through Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh online, Amazon Fresh Stores, Amazon Go Stores, and Whole Foods Market stores throughout North America. Our brands like Amazon Saver, Amazon Grocery, Whole Foods, and 365 by Whole Foods Market provide the best value for a wide range of products across all grocery categories and help customers eat delicious and quality foods, while making the most of their grocery budget. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years of relevant experience in food quality testing or laboratory environment OR- Bachelor's Degree 0-2 years of experience in product or program management, product development, or quality management in food & beverage products.
- Experience with lab safety, security and quality practices
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience with automation and any version control tools
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience- Experience in auditing, risk management, compliance, program management, or quality management systems
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems
- Experience with physical, chemical, and microbiological food testing.
- Understanding of food industry regulations and standards
- Experience with lab safety, security and quality practices
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to drive process and system improvements
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and testing protocols.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
