We're looking for an accomplished product manager to play a significant role on the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) team.Amazon RDS powers some of the most important companies on Earth. We provide a simple-to-use and reliable relational database provisioning and management service on top of Oracle, SQL Server, Db2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB database engines.
Our goal is to be the best DBA a customer can find, providing the most robust database technology in the world, enabling companies to accelerate their growth and maintain as many 9s of reliability and uptime as they need on their most crucial systems. Customers across industries use RDS in multitude of ways for experimentation to mission-critical enterprise workloads.

We are looking for an experienced product manager to lead exciting new initiatives as well as to shape our portfolio of commercial engines (Oracle, SQL Server, and Db2). We need someone with the talent and experience to help us define and launch new initiatives, and to handle the technical, strategic, and go-to-market challenges of building and growing the largest managed database service in the cloud. You will set the product vision and customer value proposition, define the product roadmap, establish product requirements, and drive product features to a successful launch and growth.
Successful candidate must have exceptional problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams. We are looking for someone with proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically. This position requires a solid technical background. The candidate should be customer-focused with a passion for distributed systems and the cloud. Past experience in databases is a plus.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
-Define the mission and vision for the commercial engines business within Amazon RDS
-Own and prioritize the product roadmap by gaining buy in from key stakeholders such as service leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams
-Establish and oversee robust rhythms of business for driving growth and visibility
-Engage with various cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute effective go-to-market strategies
-Foster strong relationships with large, strategic customers
-Evangelize service's new capabilities among field teams and customers
-Demonstrate effective stewardship of the business' P&L and drive efficiencies

Qualifications
- 7+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience- 7+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience
- Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)
Extended Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience working within teams delivering software products and features using agile methodologies
- MBA or Masters in a relevant field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $163,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $281,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
