Key job responsibilities
- Develop Strategic Frameworks: Define global strategies to meet diverse regulatory requirements across countries and product categories.
- Design Scalable Systems: Build mechanisms to operationalize classification and compliance processes across millions of products..
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the connective tissue between product, tech, legal, operations, and policy teams.
- Lead Continuous Improvement: Use data-driven insights to optimize trade compliance processes and remove operational friction.
- Risk Mitigation Through Measurement: Build systems that proactively identify and address regulatory risks through metrics and automation.
A day in the life

- Partnering with policy teams, tech, and legal stakeholders to develop innovative classification strategies
- Leading strategy sessions to define the future of product classification for global trade
- Evaluating the regulatory impact of new product launches or country expansions
- Driving simplification by automating legacy manual processes
- Translating compliance complexity into scalable, measurable systems
- Develop KPIs to proactively assess and manage compliance risks
About the team
Global Trade Services (GTS) enables Amazon and its partners - customers, vendors, and sellers - to move products, technology, and software efficiently and compliantly across borders. We develop import/export solutions that ensure the right products get to the right places at the right time and cost.
In 2024, GTS supported imports across 19 countries, classifying 233 million ASINs. The product classification function is central to determining import eligibility and compliance requirements, making it a foundational element of Amazon’s global supply chain.
This role will lead the development of our Product Classification (PC) strategy, with high visibility and direct impact on business expansion, operational efficiency, and regulatory risk mitigation. Your work will unlock scalable growth and innovation in one of the most complex areas of international trade.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Law, International Trade, or a related field- 6+ years of experience in trade compliance, risk management, supply chain operations, product classification, or regulatory affairs
- Experience designing and implementing scalable processes or systems in complex environments
- Experience working cross-functionally with policy, technical, legal, and operational teams
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Extended Qualifications
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CCS, CES, LCB, PMP, Six Sigma)- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and convert them into actionable processes
- Experience with international trade regulations (e.g., HTS classification, import regulations, PGAs like EPA/FDA)
- Familiarity with customs data, tariff codes, or trade automation tools
- Experience leading global programs or process improvement initiatives across regions
- Technical fluency or experience working with tech teams to build automated solutions
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks or compliance measurement systems
- Passion for innovation, operational excellence, and solving ambiguous regulatory challenges at scale
- Proficiency in SQL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
