Description

The Global Standards & Customer Excellence (GSCE) organization is seeking a Senior Process Improvement Specialist to drive network-wide projects and innovate new processes at scale to join our Cross Mile Continuous Improvement (XMCI) team.

The XMCI team is seeking a Senior Process Improvement Specialist with strong analyst skills to own the metrics framework, financial validation, entitlement tracking, and reporting narrative that tells the story of XMCI's impact across NA Operations. This is a process improvement role with a data-driven focus β€” you won't be building the data infrastructure yourself, but you will be the CI and business subject matter expert who defines what needs to be measured, why it matters, and how it should be presented to leadership. You will partner closely with Business Intelligence and Engineering (BIE) resources to translate your requirements into the dashboards, data products, and automated solutions that power XMCI's reporting ecosystem. This role operates across multiple miles and business units within Amazon Stores, providing broad exposure to senior leadership up to the VP level and a unique vantage point into how Amazon's end-to-end logistics network operates.

Your most visible responsibility will be creating and maintaining the team's primary reporting artifacts β€” the documents and narratives included in all business reviews across the organization. You will own the metrics framework, business logic, and executive storytelling that provide XMCI leadership, NA Operations stakeholders, and senior executives with a clear, accurate, and compelling picture of our CI program's performance and financial health. You will define the reporting requirements and work with BIE partners to build and refine the dashboards and data products that bring those requirements to life. You will be responsible for ensuring our reporting is business review-ready at all times β€” current, validated, defensible, and actionable β€” and your ownership of this ecosystem will directly shape how leadership perceives and invests in the CI program.

Underpinning the reporting is the analytical and governance work you will own. You will define what data needs to be pulled from across the XMCI ecosystem β€” kaizen charters, event results, Finance validation outputs, entitlement tracking, and network operational metrics β€” and partner with BIE resources to build the pipelines and models that aggregate it into a holistic view of program performance. You will own the end-to-end financial validation lifecycle, partnering with Finance business partners to substantiate and gain formal sign-off on all savings claims. You will design entitlement tracking mechanisms that monitor benefit sustainment over time, flagging at-risk entitlements and feeding decay pattern insights back to the team. And you will define the standardized metrics, savings categorizations, and Finance-approved calculation methodologies that create consistency and auditability across the entire XMCI program.

The right candidate is a process improvement professional with the business analyst mindset to define what needs to be measured and the CI expertise to know why it matters. You are comfortable working with data β€” proficient in Excel, able to navigate data sets, and fluent in translating business needs into clear requirements for technical partners. You are obsessive about data quality and accuracy. But above all, you understand that data without narrative is just noise β€” and you have the communication skills to turn numbers into the story that earns trust, drives decisions, and proves the value of Lean Excellence at Amazon scale.

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Business Review Reporting & Program Analytics

β€’ Own the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of XMCI's primary reporting artifacts β€” including the documents, narratives, and data products included in all WBRs, MBRs, QBRs, and senior leadership business reviews

β€’ Own the metrics framework, business logic, and executive narratives that drive the team's reporting β€” defining what needs to be measured, how it should be calculated, and how the story should be told to leadership audiences up to the VP level

β€’ Partner with BIE resources to translate reporting requirements into dashboards, automated data products, and visualization tools β€” serving as the business owner who defines the "what" and "why" while BIE partners build the "how"

β€’ Ensure all team reporting is business review-ready at all times with current, validated, and defensible data, clear narratives, and actionable insights that communicate XMCI's program performance and financial impact

β€’ Proactively identify trends, anomalies, and insights in program data that surface actionable recommendations on where XMCI is delivering, where it's falling short, and where to allocate resources

β€’ Produce ad hoc deep dives, variance analyses, and supplemental reporting packages as requested by XMCI leadership, NA Operations stakeholders, or senior executives

β€’ Serve as the single point of accountability for XMCI reporting quality β€” if a number appears in a business review, you have verified it and can defend it

Financial Validation & Entitlement Tracking

β€’ Own the end-to-end financial validation process for XMCI kaizen events β€” partnering with Finance business partners to review, substantiate, and gain formal sign-off on all savings and cost avoidance claims

β€’ Design and maintain entitlement tracking mechanisms that monitor benefit sustainment at 30/60/90 days and beyond, incorporating realization data into the broader reporting ecosystem

β€’ Reconcile CI-reported savings with Finance-recognized savings, resolving discrepancies with transparency and analytical rigor

β€’ Flag at-risk entitlements, track benefit decay patterns across the network, and surface sustainment insights to XMCI leadership, charter developers, and kaizen facilitators

β€’ Maintain a centralized, auditable financial portfolio of all validated savings, tracked entitlements, and benefit realization status across the XMCI kaizen program

Data Requirements & BIE Partnership

β€’ Define the data requirements, business logic, and source system needs that underpin XMCI's reporting and tracking ecosystem β€” translating CI and Finance domain knowledge into clear, actionable specifications for BIE partners

β€’ Partner with BIE resources to build, test, and refine the dashboards, data pipelines, and automated reporting workflows that power the team's analytics capabilities

β€’ Serve as the business owner and subject matter expert for all XMCI data products β€” owning the requirements backlog, prioritizing BIE development work based on business impact, and validating outputs against CI and Finance standards

β€’ Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and tracking processes through partnership with BIE β€” reducing manual effort while increasing data freshness, accuracy, and scalability

β€’ Maintain data integrity and quality standards across all reporting outputs β€” proactively identifying and resolving data gaps, inconsistencies, and errors before they reach a business review audience

Governance, Standards & Methodology

β€’ Define and maintain the standardized metrics definitions, savings categorizations (hard, soft, cost avoidance, productivity), and calculation methodologies used across the entire XMCI team

β€’ Develop and maintain a benefits calculation guide that provides kaizen teams with Finance-approved formulas and structures for projecting savings during charter development

β€’ Conduct periodic calibration sessions with Finance partners to ensure ongoing alignment on definitions, recognition criteria, and reporting standards

β€’ Ensure all reporting and tracking mechanisms comply with Amazon Finance policies and are audit-ready at all times

β€’ Continuously improve the XMCI reporting and governance ecosystem β€” identifying process gaps, refining standards, and raising the bar on data quality, timeliness, and analytical depth

Stakeholder Partnership & Communication

β€’ Serve as XMCI's primary metrics and analytics liaison to Finance, Operations, and senior leadership β€” translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives tailored to each audience

β€’ Partner upstream with charter developers and midstream with kaizen facilitators to ensure financial measurement plans are structured for clean data capture and validation-ready reporting from the outset

β€’ Build trust-based relationships with Finance business partners to ensure CI savings validation is a collaborative, efficient process

β€’ Build and maintain a productive working relationship with BIE resources β€” clearly communicating requirements, providing timely feedback, and ensuring technical solutions align with business needs and CI domain standards
