Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.We are hiring a Sr. Process Engineer for Project Kuiper's Manufacturing Engineering team. This key role will be focused on increasing Kuiper Satellite production rate through continuous improvement strategies. In this role, you will be a senior member of the team that will drive improvements in a variety of areas such as manufacturing, testing and/or fulfillment processes. To deliver these complex solutions, you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, launch, test etc. Candidate superpowers should include earn trust, ownership, insist on high standards, continuous improvement, stakeholder management, innovation and simplification. The role is based in Redmond, WA
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as primary technical interface to development team participating as a key technical voice from the factory in Design Reviews, key technical escalations, and new product development activities.
- Support operations team directly by being a high solving power engineer, capable of bringing multiple diverging technical perspectives together in high pressure escalation moments
- Act as resident expert, providing immediate technical solutions and root cause analysis for complex problems.
- Autonomously own deep dives to root cause a specific process or area (product engineering).
- Mentor and develop junior engineers

About the team
Our Process Engineering team drives manufacturing excellence for satellite communication systems. We're the technical bridge between production and design, ensuring manufacturing teams can build complex optical systems efficiently and independently.
You'll join a team of resident experts who provide immediate technical solutions on the production floor. Working alongside manufacturing teams daily, you'll help solve complex challenges through mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering expertise. Our collaborative environment means you'll regularly interact with both production staff and design engineers, translating practical insights into meaningful improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production- Masters Degree in Engineering (Optical, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline), or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in the manufacturing of complex opto-mechanical systems used in industrial, consumer, automotive, defense, space or medical applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills including working knowledge of data analysis and statistics.
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Knowledge and experience with precision opto-mechanical components and assemblies.
- Experience with fiber optics components and handling of optical fiber
- Strong organizational, analytical, and
- problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
