Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by providing broadband access to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Trust & Privacy team is responsible for defining, maintaining, and raising the bar with respect to the trust and privacy of Leo customers in 100+ countries. As a horizontal team, we are accountable for trust and privacy outcomes while working cross-functionally both within Amazon Leo and across Amazon, including with Legal, PR, Public Policy, engineering, and business partners.

We seek a Senior Privacy Specialist with experience in privacy risk management, incident response expertise, and technical program/product management skills to join our team. This role will be instrumental in establishing our incident management program, driving privacy by design outcomes, and establishing the trust governance program across Amazon Leo.

Key job responsibilities

• Drive privacy and trust risk identification and mitigation across Amazon Leo global operations by partnering with with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify and prioritize risks, track mitigation, and report progress to stakeholders and leadership.

• Lead architecture design reviews and track implementation of scalable, end-to-end privacy automation tooling.

• Manage our global trust incident management program

• Strengthen the Privacy by Design culture across Amazon Leo engineering and product teams by providing guidance on design decisions and technical best practices for privacy and data governance.

• Establish trust governance metrics and reporting mechanisms for tracking results, progress, and gaps in performance and compliance across Amazon Leo.

• Drive strategic leadership in ambiguous environments by demonstrating excellent judgment in prioritizing between near-term and long-term problems while building scalable mechanisms that enable Amazon Leo to make the right risk decisions.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics

- Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects

- 7+ years of defining and executing against program timeline & requirements experience

- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing operations environment

- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

- 5+ years in risk management or technical product/program management ideally in privacy, security, legal, or compliance.



Extended Qualifications

- Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams

- Experience with risk Investigation processes

- Experience in Incident Management, Threat Management, Corporate Investigations, Law Enforcement, Security Operations, Crisis Management or a related field

- Experience working with a matrixed team of stakeholders to achieve a common goal or equivalent

- Broad understanding of AI/ML technology and trends, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, HIPAA), privacy GRC framework, and privacy risk management methodologies and tooling

- Experience with privacy automation at scale across multiple business lines and geographies.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
