Description
Amazon is seeking a high-judgment and self-motivated communications professional to join our Stores Communications Trust & Reputation Team. This person will play an important role in identifying and rapidly responding to emerging topics and issues across Stores business, with a focus on retail. This is a position for someone who can excel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. The role is never boring, and requires a team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.The individual in this role will help manage day-to-day issues and strategically respond to media inquiries, while developing forward-looking scenario plans for emerging news cycles. This person must be able to dive deeply to understand business realities and to communicate clearly with internal and external audiences, including senior executives. This person will be responsible for developing statements for media and other external audiences, which requires exceptional writing skills and the ability to manage feedback and edits quickly and concisely.
The right candidate works effectively in a matrixed global organization, quickly builds effective working relationships, and maintains high standards under tight deadlines.
The position is based in Seattle, WA.
Key job responsibilities
Monitor, assess, escalate, and resolve a variety of situations occurring simultaneously with excellent judgement
Dive deeply with internal teams to understand how their businesses work
Formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written statements
Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters
Manage incoming media inquiries, correct inaccuracies, and lay groundwork for future story development.
Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson
Work collaboratively across teams
A day in the life
You'll be responsible for managing incoming media inquiries about Amazon's Worldwide Stores businesses from U.S.-based outlets and providing PR counsel to business leadership. We are looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone to speak with reporters to get more information, can help educate them on key topics, and is not afraid to push back when a reporter has inaccurate information.
About the team
The Core Retail Trust and Reputation team is part of the Amazon Worldwide Stores Communications team, and we strategically manage emerging issues and media inquiries that have the potential to impact Amazon's reputation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience- Bachelor's degree
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in media relations and issues management- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Experience building strategies to enhance corporate reputation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
