Description

Amazon is seeking a high-judgment, detail-oriented, and self-motivated communications professional to join our Global Corporate Issues & Media Relations team. In this role, you will be responsible for issues management and risk mitigation across Amazon’s energy initiatives and sustainable operations, including transportation and packaging. You will manage day-to-day reactive media inquiry responses and develop forward-looking scenario plans related to emerging topics and ongoing issues. In this role, you will work autonomously as well as with multiple teams, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and partners around the world. You will be responsible for developing externally facing communications and speaking with reporters regularly therefore, exceptional writing and media relations skills are a must. This position is for someone who can excel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, and thrives in the unpredictable. The role is never boring, and requires a team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

Key job responsibilities

- Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters to discuss and manage reactive stories, correct inaccuracies, and establish a connection point for future story development

- Communicate complicated energy and sustainability-related issues with a clear point of view, and create a concise and well-written narrative to express it

- Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson

- Work closely with Amazon’s sustainability and global PR teams around the world

- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gain alignment across multiple teams and viewpoints, requiring both flexibility and firm guidance

- Maintain a finger on the pulse of category/industry trends and the evolving media landscape



Qualifications

- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

- Bachelor's degree



Extended Qualifications

- • Experience in energy and sustainability communications, particularly managing related issues

- • Understanding of working within highly matrixed organizations and/or large companies

- • Experience advising senior leaders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
