Operating at the forefront of trust & safety in digital retail, our team shapes the future of Amazon's strategically important Books category. We ensure that Amazon's bookstore maintains high standards of trust while providing the best possible experience for millions of customers globally. Operating across different languages and countries, we navigate complex policy decisions that protect and enhance the future of digital and physical book retail.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive the development and evolution of Amazon's Global Books Risk Policies, ensuring a safe and trustworthy experience for our community
• Lead complex, high-impact policy initiatives with significant senior leadership visibility (VP/SVP level)
• Partner with Science and Engineering teams to develop and refine detection mechanisms and enforcement frameworks
• Manage sensitive policy calibrations and escalations, exercising strong judgment in time-sensitive situations
• Build consensus across multiple stakeholders including Legal, Public Relations, Public Policy, Engineering, and Business teams, developing broad exposure across Amazon's business units
• Conduct thorough policy research and present data-driven recommendations to senior leadership
• Balance customer trust, author success, and platform integrity in policy decisions
Qualifications
- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent- Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform complex problems into actionable solutions
- Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities, particularly in ambiguous situations
- Track record of successfully managing cross-functional initiatives
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in trust & safety, content policy, risk management, or related fields
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with appropriate discretion and professionalism

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
