Description

The AI team within AWS is responsible for setting the AI strategy and delivering machine learning services across multiple segments and requirement to AWS customers. Today, the team delivers multiple services such as Lex, Polly, Comprehend, Translate, Transcribe, Kendra, and Contact Lens for Amazon Connect as well as ML Engines and Platform as a Service.

As a Principal PMT - ES, you’ll own the P&L for Amazon Polly and have the opportunity to tackle several strategic and technical questions for AWS' largest customers. You’ll manage a team and work with product and engineering stakeholders across multiple organizations, business development, finance, and marketing to grow the business, ideate and ship new products, and define our technical strategy. This role requires a high degree of ownership and customer obsession, business judgement, and technical leadership.

The target opportunity is massive, but also ambiguous, and this exceptional role requires an individual with a track record of shipping products, experience working with external partners and engineering teams, experience working with multiple partner teams across geographies, and stellar leadership skills to create a vision and rally teams around a common goal. You will be part of the larger product leadership community at Amazon and AWS. This community plays a critical role in the broad business planning, working closely with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influences our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire talented team of PMs and ultimately enables us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly. You will be seen as the subject matter expert for your area of focus within Amazon AI.

Key job responsibilities

- Own and manage the P&L for one of the most loved AWS AI service by customers

- Define multi-year product roadmaps based on internal/external research, analysis, data, and align stakeholders across multiple organizations behind a common vision.

- Lead detailed, crisp business requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product and application

- Drive prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load

- Establish and track metrics and key performance indicators for success

- Manage a team and work closely with engineering teams, business development, solutions architects and program management to deliver quality products to market.

- Drive the go-to-market for products including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members.

- Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goal

A day in the life

Given the scope and high level of ownership that product managers have in AWS AI, rarely are two days the same. You are a business owner, customer-facing representative for the service, and point of contact for partner teams. On a weekly basis, you will be working with customers to learn about the problems they are trying to solve, analyzing service and business metrics, writing PRFAQs, BRDs, and naming documents, iterating on product decisions with the Science and Engineering team, working with partners in solution architecture, legal, documentation, etc., thinking big to envision what is next, and exhibiting learn and be curious for different technologies, growth strategies, and market trends.





Qualifications

- 7+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience

- 5+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience

- Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)



Extended Qualifications

- Masters of Business Administration

- Broad technical breadth and depth including familiarity with Machine Learning

- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and driving innovation on behalf of internal and external customers

- Comfortable assessing and taking risks

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions

- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs, and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners

- High attention to detail including precise and effective stakeholder communication, and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives

- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $163,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $281,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
