Description

You are responsible for the lifecycle of straightforward solutions at the project level. You follow team standard work procedures, and you are learning operations engineering best practices. You are able to operate effectively according to schedule. Your work impacts project goals. It may impact equipment decisions, solutions, partner teams, shared project schedule and scope for an assigned project. In addition, it may impact external entity (e.g., vendor, integrator, etc.) schedule, work quality, and efficiency.

You deliver building/system designs per standards (e.g., racking, shelving, storage, work cells, self-contained machines). You are learning to qualify equipment (e.g., installation, performance, life span). You are learning how to simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks for solutions. You are able to resolve basic system problems and you are learning to perform root cause analysis. You actively participate in projects.

You validate stakeholder designs and customer requirements and are able to identify technical deficiencies effectively. You make trade-offs: time vs. resources.

You drive productive discussions. You help the team and their partners reach consensus. You are an advocate for the customer and for your team. You distinguish between important and urgent. You are learning to establish milestones and drive sensible deadlines.

You run effective meetings. Your verbal and written style is clear and concise. You are able to transform raw thoughts into clear documentation. You ensure the right information about the state of a project is delivered to the right audience at the right time (e.g., status reports, metrics, etc.). You clearly articulate scope, timeline, owners, risks, and the steps to mitigate those risks at each stage. You drive the resolution of problems, and either manage their resolution or ensure a clear hand-off to the right owner. You make sure each project has measures of success (Q: How do you know your project is on track? How do you know it saves money? How do you know the outcome is acceptable? How do you know your customers are satisfied?). You may participate in the interview process and help train new members of the team.

Key job responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Design and Optimization:

Deliver building/system designs per standards (e.g., racking, shelving, storage, work cells, self-contained machines)

Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve efficiency

Utilize MES data to identify bottlenecks and optimize production flow

Collaborate with ERP teams to ensure accurate inventory management and production planning

Quality Management:

Ensure all processes adhere to ISO 9001 quality management standards

Participate in internal and external quality audits

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes

Implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor and improve product quality

Project Management:

Actively participate in and lead manufacturing improvement projects

Establish milestones and drive sensible deadlines

Make trade-offs between time and resources

Ensure projects align with overall manufacturing strategy and lean principles

Stakeholder Management:

Validate stakeholder designs and customer requirements

Drive productive discussions and help teams reach consensus

Advocate for both the customer and your team

Collaborate with ERP and MES teams to ensure system requirements meet manufacturing needs

Communication and Documentation:

Run effective meetings focused on manufacturing KPIs and improvement initiatives

Transform raw production data into clear, actionable documentation

Ensure the right information about the state of a project and manufacturing performance is delivered to the right audience at the right time

Clearly articulate scope, timeline, owners, risks, and mitigation steps for manufacturing projects

Continuous Improvement:

Apply lean manufacturing tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Kaizen events

Utilize MES data to identify areas for process improvement

Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement teams

Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging manufacturing technologies



Qualifications

Manufacturing Systems:

Hands-on experience with MES platforms

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)

Quality Systems:

Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 procedures

Experience with quality documentation and audit processes

Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)



Extended Qualifications

Process Improvement:

Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing tools

Project experience in implementing 5S, Kaizen events

Experience with Value Stream Mapping

Track record of successful process optimization projects

Data Analysis:

Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI)

Experience creating and maintaining KPI dashboards

Ability to analyze production metrics and trends

Understanding of OEE calculations and improvements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $54,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $93,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
