Description
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.As a Senior Microwave Hardware Test Engineer, you will collaborate with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to develop cutting-edge product solutions. Working alongside colleagues across Amazon Leo's interdisciplinary organization, you will drive critical aspects of product development, execution, and optimization. Success in this role requires adaptability, responsiveness, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the transition of microwave/RF subsystem testing from engineering validation to production readiness for space-qualified applications. Your responsibilities will include defining comprehensive test parameters, establishing acceptance criteria, and ensuring seamless knowledge transfer to the production team.

Key job responsibilities
• Engineering Testing: Develop engineering test benches for design verification and establish compliance matrices.
• Production Testing & Characterization: Design and execute production-level test procedures for RF/microwave modules, including gain, noise figure, output power, current consumption, and linearity measurements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Generate comprehensive test reports, analyze performance trends, and create, update, and maintain technical documentation and test procedures.
• Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve unit failures at the die-level, wire bond, and soldering stages to enhance production yield.
• RF Circuit Simulation & Optimization: Perform block-level circuit simulation, schematic capture, and oversee PCB layout design.

Success in this role requires regular cross-organizational collaboration with engineering teams. You must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across functional boundaries in a matrixed environment.

Qualifications
- Experience with RF lab equipment including VNA, power meters, spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in RF/Microwave, or related discipline, or 7+ years of relevant experience in RF/microwave testing and production
- 7+ years of experience testing and characterizing microwave components and subsystems, including power amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, block down-converters, and block up-converters
- Proficiency in Python for test automation, data analysis, and instrument control (e.g., SCPI, PyVISA, NumPy, Matplotlib)
- Proven experience developing test procedures and transitioning products from engineering validation to production testing
- Experience with RF simulation and measurement software (e.g., ADS, HFSS, CST) for test correlation and troubleshooting
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent- Experience with space-qualified testing requirements, environmental qualification procedures, and reliability testing
- Demonstrated track record designing test strategies, validating performance, and launching products into mass production
- Strong Python programming skills for automated test equipment (ATE) development, statistical analysis, and test data visualization
- Experience with production yield improvement, failure analysis, root cause investigation, and test optimization

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
