Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Sr Manager Manufacturing Programs will lead the end-to-end Supply chain program management for Kuiper's Line Replacement Units (LRUs), ensuring seamless production execution and material readiness. This role will work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and other key stakeholders to drive manufacturing excellence and meet production targets. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/satellite manufacturing programs, implementing design changes, driving cost reduction initiatives, and resolving technical challenges in a high-volume production environment.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

This role will partner with Engineering teams, Supply Chain, and Production Operations to establish and execute comprehensive game plans that drive operational excellence across Kuiper's LRU. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring material readiness and maintaining clear-to-build status for all LRU manufacturing operations while simultaneously driving yield improvements and cost reduction initiatives to meet critical affordability targets.

Through strategic coordination with cross-functional teams, they will manage the implementation of design changes and develop overlap planning strategies that maintain production continuity. The role demands strong leadership in resolving manufacturing process challenges by fostering collaboration between engineering, supply chain, and operations teams. This integrated approach ensures smooth production flow while maintaining the high-quality standards essential for satellite hardware manufacturing.

• Develop and manage Integrated program management team to support Kuiper's production targets

• Drive material readiness and inventory management strategies for LRU production

• Lead implementation of engineering changes while maintaining production continuity

• Develop and execute cost reduction initiatives to meet program affordability targets

• Manage yield improvement programs through collaboration with engineering and supply chain

• Drive resolution of manufacturing process issues and technical challenges

• Lead cross-functional teams to optimize production flow and efficiency

• Develop and track key performance metrics for manufacturing programs

• Manage stakeholder communications and escalations for program-critical issues



Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field

• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing program management

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace/satellite manufacturing operations

• 10+ years of experience managing complex technical programs with cross-functional teams

• Experience with manufacturing process improvement and yield optimization

• Demonstrated track record in implementing cost reduction initiatives



Extended Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Administration

• 10+ years of experience in satellite/aerospace manufacturing programs

• Experience with high-volume electronics manufacturing and LRU production

• Strong background in manufacturing engineering and process optimization

• Experience managing teams in a technical manufacturing environment

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills

• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $175,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
