AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. Global Services is uniquely equipped to accelerate customer success through their cloud adoption lifecycle, leveraging Professional Services to realize desired business outcomes, providing world-class Security solutions, sustaining and scaling workloads through Support and Amazon Managed Services (AMS), and cultivating a skilled workforce through industry-leading Training & Certification programs. The Global Services Strategy & Operations (GSSO) team was formed in late Q4’22, responsible for leading critical functions that support our businesses and help accelerate growth. Our team’s mission is to drive integration across Global Services to unlock operational efficiencies and deliver a seamless, unified experience for both AWS customers and AWS as our customer. As the GSSO Market Insights Manager, you will play a key role in shaping data-driven strategies through market and competitive research. This role involves proactive collaboration with stakeholders to define, execute, and manage research projects, as well as responding to ad-hoc research needs. You will champion a customer-centric approach, guiding decision-making and supporting organizational growth with actionable insights. In this dynamic, high-growth environment, you will present research findings to senior leaders and educate cross-functional teams. Success in this role depends on your ability to navigate complex data, deliver clear and impactful insights, and build trust across GSSO. Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to foster collaborative relationships and provide recommendations that influence impactful business decisions.

Key job responsibilities

- Consult with internal stakeholders to define research needs and address complex business problems.

- Develop and execute a strategic research roadmap to deliver high-quality, actionable insights that drive measurable business outcomes.

- Work with cross-functional stakeholders including marketing, sales, strategy, product, and other teams to ensure comprehensive research support.

- Oversee and manage multiple large-scale research studies from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.

- Respond to ad-hoc market and competitive research requests by analyzing data from credible sources, and create actionable reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.

- Manage third-party vendors, including budget approvals and allocations, to ensure efficient resource use and maximum return on investment.

- Build and sustain relationships with industry experts and analyst firms to provide credible external perspectives.

- Act as a subject matter expert on market and competitive trends, keeping stakeholders informed of relevant updates.

- Leverage automation tools, such as generative AI, to enhance research efficiency in data gathering, insight creation, and dissemination.

- Establish and implement effective mechanisms for disseminating and socializing research findings within the organization.

- Develop and maintain an up-to-date research repository, making it easily accessible and self-serve for stakeholders.



Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

- 5+ years in roles such as market intelligence analyst, industry research analyst, corporate strategy, management consultant, or similar positions demanding strategic industry/business analysis and executive-level communication.

- 2+ years of experience collaborating with industry analysts (e.g., IDC, Gartner) and/or market research firms to address business queries.

- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with strong analytical skills to interpret and derive insights from complex data sets, driven by high intellectual curiosity.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey insights in a clear and easily digestible manner.



Extended Qualifications

- Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, or an analytical discipline.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast paced and rapidly-changing environment.

- Proven track record of communicating research findings and strategic guidance to senior leadership.

- Proven ability to influence alignment and foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, even without direct authority.

- Ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful executive-ready recommendations and action plan.

- Background in technology industries preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $169,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
