Description
Amazon Manufacturing Services (AMS) is seeking an experienced Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our One MHS advanced manufacturing team. This role will serve as a critical bridge between our manufacturing operations and product engineering teams, driving manufacturing excellence through deep technical expertise in metals fabrication and automation technologies.The ideal candidate will lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews across new and existing product programs — partnering with product engineering early in the design cycle to ensure components and assemblies are optimized for cost, quality, and production efficiency before they reach the floor. In addition to DFM, this role is responsible for identifying and executing throughput improvement initiatives across current production lines, including bottleneck analysis, cycle time reduction, setup optimization, and capacity planning to maximize output against existing equipment and labor constraints.
Key job responsibilities
Lead manufacturing process development and optimization across multiple fabrication technologies including roll forming, sheet metal fabrication, stamping, punching, welding, and die casting
Provide expert Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to product engineering teams, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost
Drive implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to achieve world-class operational efficiency
Collaborate cross-functionally with product engineers, operations teams, and supply chain partners to resolve complex manufacturing challenges
Develop and implement process control strategies, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead capital equipment selection, specification, and commissioning activities
Mentor junior engineers and manufacturing technicians on best practices and technical problem-solving
Support new product introduction (NPI) activities from prototype through production ramp
Utilize PLM systems to manage product data, engineering changes, and manufacturing documentation throughout the product development lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field- 7+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Experience designing complex systems for automation in logistics or manufacturing, or experience with product development in automotive, aerospace, automation equipment or related field
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies
- Demonstrated expertise across multiple metals fabrication technologies: roll forming, sheet metal fabrication, stamping, punching, welding, and die casting
- Proven ability to provide effective Design for Manufacturing feedback and influence product design decisions
- Experience with manufacturing process development, validation, and optimization
- Proficiency with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems and understanding of the product development process from concept through production
Extended Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume production environments
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies including laser cutting, robotic welding, and automated powder coating
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP systems, and digital manufacturing tools
- Advanced proficiency with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Enovia) and integration with CAD/CAM tools

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
