Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process development, mechanical engineering, Cpk/Capabilities analysis, 3D modeling, and automation processes. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will manage complex manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production methods, cost optimization, and product quality. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new manufacturing processes, improve existing ones, and support product development through detailed engineering analysis. This role requires a hands-on approach, and technical expertise.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production. Utilize and develop automation as a means to reduce human factors.
- Conduct Cpk and capabilities analysis to assess process performance, production trends, and implement solutions to improve yield and throughput.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing operations, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and improving manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.
- Develop and update detailed process documentation, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams to transition new products from concept to production.
- Work on continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process optimization techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in product design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years developing manufacturing and/or automation processes.
Extended Qualifications
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Developed tools/applications/data processing utilizing AI.
- Implemented industrial motion systems (robots, servo motors, sensor systems) to solve manufacturability challenges.
- Familiar with code languages (python preferred).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
