Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Rack Layout Design Manager to lead the Global Rack Layout Design (RLD) team within Design Services (DS) under Data Center Engineering (DCE). The RLD team provides design services for all global data halls, including Colocation, Edge, and Leased/Owned sites containing customer demand rack installations. The team coordinates field installation of racks among all field specialties by delivering accurate, standardized rack layout drawings and floor plans. RLD is a critical enabler of AWS capacity delivery, ensuring that rack positions are accurately designed and documented to support the rapid scaling of AWS infrastructure worldwide. The team consists of Designers specializing in Colocation Work Orders, BIM modeling and processes, and data center rack layout optimization.

You will own delivery of rack layout drawings and floor plans for global work orders spanning Edge sites, COLO facilities, Leased sites, Controls drawings, and infrastructure configuration management uploads and revisions. You will build and improve the mechanisms, including standardized templates, production SLAs, and quality gates, that drive cycle time reduction and data accuracy. RLD leverages standardized design tools and best practices to maintain consistency across the entire data center design lifecycle.

As a people leader, you will grow designers' technical capabilities while maintaining fluency in layout standards and production tooling. You will hire and develop talent, raise the bar on design quality, and build a team culture that moves fast to deliver capacity at global scale. You will partner directly with Colocation Regional Engineering, Capacity Delivery Planning, Engineering, Operations, Infrastructure Delivery, and Supply teams to ensure rack layout designs never become a bottleneck to capacity delivery.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You'll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers collaborating to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.
