Description
At Alexa Audio, we own the audio experiences on Alexa enabled devices. These experiences include Music, Podcast, Audio Books, Radio, and Ambient soundscapes. Our integration skill kits enable seamless integration of 1P / 3P audio content providers (e.g., Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple etc.) with Alexa devices. Audio is one of the most widely used experiences on Alexa, and is enjoyed by millions of customers on a daily basis.There is a universe of tens of millions of distinct audio content that is available across streaming services. Using your voice, and timely proactive suggestions are the easiest ways to get to what you want. Alexa makes this magical for customers: ask any Alexa-enabled device to play your favorite song, podcast, book or a station, and Alexa will find the right content for you and play it. We also support being able to control and manage playback across multiple devices, and movement of media playback across them. It is still Day 1 for the audio experiences, and we're looking for a leader to help us make it even better.
Key job responsibilities
As a Sr Manager, Software Development in the Alexa Audio team, you will be responsible for managing and developing technical teams, charting a long-term technical vision for Audio and other narrative experiences, influencing technical strategy and execution within and outside of Alexa Audio, collaborating with engineering leaders across multiple Amazon organization, and partnering with product and science functions to evolve the customer experience and drive business impact. They will lead technical teams responsible for evolving the Audio experiences on Alexa and monetization initiatives. This role requires a strong track record of earning trust and influencing technical strategy, bringing simple solutions to complex problems, balancing short term delivery with longer term scalability, and building teams from the ground up.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience leading software engineering teams and delivering multiple projects on schedule. This role directly impacts Alexa customer experiences through operational improvements and technical leadership. We invite candidates with experience in cloud technologies, strong attention to detail, and proven success leading cross-functional teams to apply.
The role involves driving development projects to make the Alexa Audio experiences magical for customers, and help them find the right content to play on the right devices with full contextual awareness and engaging customers with specific focus on audiobooks and classical music using Alexa across Amazon Devices and in Smart Vehicles.
A commitment to team work, adaptability, and strong communication skills (with both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. The role requires leaders with technical depth to guide the development process, a clear vision to unlock future innovation, and project management skills to ensure the right solution is delivered to customers. You must have the ability to pay attention to detail to deliver solutions that delight customers.
A day in the life
You will be acting as the leader providing direction, managing execution and own goals for the engineering team reporting to you. You will manage relationship with stakeholder both within Alexa Audio, and with partner teams. You will be responsible for hiring, career development, and performance management.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Extended Qualifications
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
