Estimated salary: $183,650

Description

Amazon's scientific community of thousands of deep-domain experts spanning disciplines from artificial intelligence to quantum computing, is a cornerstone of the company's ability to invent on behalf of customers. Sustaining that inventive edge requires more than great science; it requires that discoveries travel fast, land with impact, and compound into new ideas and experimentation across the organization.

The Senior Manager of Science Marketing will own the strategy and execution for how Amazon's scientific breakthroughs are communicated, celebrated, and activated — internally and externally. This leader will build the connective tissue between world-class researchers and the broader Amazon ecosystem, ensuring that high-impact science accelerates product innovation, strengthens Amazon's reputation as a research destination, and drives measurable business outcomes.

Key job responsibilities

Scientific Publications & Communications

* Define Amazon's scientific publication strategy as a lever for innovation differentiation, establishing a framework that elevates high-quality research to top-tier venues.

* Build a business-driven publication model aligned to Amazon's diverse portfolio of priorities — from AWS infrastructure to consumer devices to sustainability.

* Translate complex research across AI, semiconductors, robotics, quantum computing, and other frontier technologies into compelling impact narratives for internal and external audiences.

* Develop and execute an amplification playbook that enables PR, business-embedded marketing, amazon.science, and partner teams to cascade Amazon research breakthroughs at scale.

Ecosystem Development

* Architect a strategy to connect Amazon's internal scientific community, enabling rapid knowledge exchange and cross-pollination of ideas regardless of origin.

* Evolve a portfolio of in-person and virtual convenings — conferences, seminars, and informal channels — that reinforce a shared culture of customer-obsessed science.

* Define audience segmentation and develop tailored engagement strategies that resonate with researchers, engineers, business leaders, and external partners.

* Build and manage a high-performing team, event calendars, workback plans, and vendor relationships to deliver on-brand, on-time results.

* Establish a clear, simple measurement framework for scientific diffusion health and community impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic relationships with business and technology leaders inside and outside Amazon, including university, government, and consortia partners.

* Serve as a trusted advisor to high-velocity internal innovation teams navigating complex research-to-product transitions.

* Lead voice-of-partner and voice-of-customer sessions that generate actionable insights to sharpen strategy and messaging.

Market Intelligence & Insights

* Develop Amazon research case studies to galvanize our model for impact and success.

* Monitor the technology and competitive landscape to surface opportunities and risks relevant to Amazon's scientific communities.

* Partner with Amazon Connections, PR, and internal research teams to synthesize stakeholder insights that inform strategy, positioning, and narrative.
