Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. The Amazon Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Infrastructure Physical Security team is responsible for protecting people, assets, and critical services at Ground Gateway Terminal sites across the globe. We leverage security technologies, comprehensive risk management programs, and robust operational procedures to safeguard our expanding network of ground gateways that enable next-generation satellite communications.
As a Senior Manager on this team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading a world-class security organization. At Amazon, leaders are expected to raise the bar continuously—developing talent, driving innovation, and taking full ownership of complex challenges that directly impact our mission-critical infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Build, hire, and mentor a globally distributed team of Technical Infrastructure Program Managers and Regional Security Managers across Seattle, Austin, London, and Singapore
* Design and implement comprehensive physical security strategies customized to the unique regulatory, cultural, and operational requirements of each country where our infrastructure operates
* Partner with senior leadership to ensure security strategy aligns seamlessly with business objectives, growth initiatives, and long-term vision
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Amazon's internal security teams to create unified, enterprise-wide security postures
Operational Excellence
* Manage multiple concurrent projects and initiatives while effectively influencing stakeholders, negotiating with vendors, and coordinating with internal and external partners
* Articulate complex security visions, detailed roadmaps, and technical solutions in compelling business terms for both team members and executive audiences
* Establish and track operational metrics that drive continuous improvement and demonstrate program effectiveness
* Identify emerging risks and opportunities, developing proactive measures and strategic approaches to physical security challenges
Team Development
* Cultivate a culture of operational excellence through data-driven decision making and continuous learning
* Mentor team members and create clear career progression pathways that enable them to take on increasing levels of responsibility
* Foster an environment where innovation thrives and team members feel empowered to solve complex problems

Qualifications
- 10+ years of hiring, developing, and leading high-performing teams experience- 5+ years of security-related professional experience
- Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
- Experience in risk assessment and enabling organizations to make security decisions
Extended Qualifications
- Experience developing operational metrics- Travel up to 25% of the time
- Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience driving projects to improve operations and support-related processes
- Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $300,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
