Description

We are seeking a Manager of Technical Infrastructure Program Management for the Non-Standard Infrastructure Team, responsible for strategy development, planning and deployment of specialized infrastructure within AWS data centers globally.

In this role, the Manager, Non-Standard Infrastructure Delivery, will perform as a player-coach, owning the strategy development, planning, and deployment of AWS Non-Standard Infrastructure in data centers around the world along with the management and development of a team of Technical Infrastructure Program Managers to support project execution. This manager will be responsible for supporting the development of demand forecasts, establishing standardized processes, and setting and meeting performance metrics. The Manager will engage with and lead cross functional teams across AWS to define new infrastructure initiatives, understand internal customer needs, initiate refinement and deployment of designs, establish budgets, develop and drive project schedules, remove blockers, and, above all else, deliver results.

A successful candidate is an exceptionally strong communicator, both in writing and verbally, and has at least 7 years of experienced in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives. At least 4 years of strategic or portfolio program management and managing teams of direct reports in diverse locations is required. Strong judgment, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent and leadership, along with the capacity to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment not paralyzed by ambiguity is a must. Experience working in a complex engineering environment with experience as a technical project manager on increasingly complex projects is optimal. Experience managing data center infrastructure deployments is a plus. The Manager must be competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

Travel will vary based on pace of operations, but typically no greater than 15% domestic and international travel may be necessary to support AWS non-standard infrastructure planning and scaling efforts.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead your team – a team of Technical Infrastructure Program Managers responsible for deploying data center Non-Standard Infrastructure.

• Partner with internal customers to define requirements and develop Non-Standard Infrastructure deployment strategies and demand forecasts.

• Partner with matrixed teams including construction, commissioning, controls, networking, operations, and supply chain across multiple geographic locations to deploy capacity.

• Communicate program and portfolio status to leadership and across stakeholder teams.

• Develop and implement metrics, mechanisms, and processes to drive continuous improvement.

• Bring your expertise, analytical talents, problem solving skills, and creativity to work.
