Description

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Senior Manager of Open Source Strategy & Marketing for AWS. You will spearhead our efforts to provide strategic guidance for service teams consuming, contributing, and building with open source software.

As the leader of Open Source Strategy & Marketing you'll own the responsibility to improve AWS' perception in open source. You will partner with leaders in Product Marketing, Public Relations, Service teams, and other stakeholders to win the earn the trust of the open source community and developers.

Key job responsibilities

Lead and develop a team responsible for defining and executing the company's open source strategy across internal and external initiatives

Build and nurture relationships with key open source communities, foundations, and industry working groups

Oversee the delivery of guidance for service teams consuming, building with, or contributing to open source software.

Provide oversight for the launch and naming processes for open source projects that AWS creates.

Collaborate with Legal, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure proper open source risk management

Guide teams on effective community engagement strategies and contribution models to build influence in strategic open source projects

Work with Product and Engineering leadership to align open source roadmaps with product strategy and engineering priorities

Represent the company at open source conferences, speaking engagements, and community events

Implement education and training programs to build open source expertise and culture across the organization

Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging open source technologies to inform strategic recommendations

Manage budget and resources for the open source function, including sponsorships and foundation memberships

Qualifications

10+ years contributing to open source projects

5+ years of people management experience

History of leadership positions in a major open source project or foundation

Demonstrated excellence in public speaking and presenting to technical audiences and a passion for engaging with the open source community and advocating for their needs



Extended Qualifications

A history of delivering written plans for senior leadership

Experience successfully engaging with industry analyst firms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $162,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
